Bug Spray

Mosquito,Tick & Flea Spray:

I simply love this time of year, but unfortunately so do mosquitos and ticks.
Thankfully we can ditch the DEET and switch to this healthy and natural bug repellant.

dōTERRA's TerraShield blend is a "Registered Insect Repellant" and has essential oils that are
"active repellants according to the EPA" and all of them are in line with EPA standards & regulations.

TerraShield contains NO DEET and the only ingredients are dōTERRA CTPG Essential oils.

A study conducted in the late 1980s on employees of Everglades National Park looked into the effects of DEET found that a full one-quarter of the subjects studied experienced negative health effects that were attributed to exposure to the chemical.

Effects included rashes, skin irritation, numb or burning lips, nausea, headaches, dizziness, and difficulty concentrating.

In addition to this side effects, long term use of DEET has also been linked to neurological and psychological effects.

Children and pets are also more prone to having symptoms and negative effects from DEET.

Another article from a Health Research Funding about DEET:

"Deet is proven to be responsible for certain health problems such as seizures, rashes, slurred speech, confusion, muscle twitching, and the worst is death. The National Centers for Poison Control receives reports of up to 5,000 cases of poisoning which is related to deet. Unfortunately, poison reactions acquired from deet are quite hard to detect."

According to experts, deet should be used carefully to avoid its harmful effects to the brain. It can cause damages to the brain and it can even cause death of the brain cells.

The exposure to deet can cause the death of neurons in parts of the brain which is responsible for controlling concentration, memory, learning and muscle movement.

The worst thing about the exposure to deet is that the symptoms will not be noticeable after several months or years. Studies show that long term and frequent exposure to deet can cause brain function abnormalities particularly in children.
